A block is replicated across the cluster as per the replicationFactor which is 3 by default. Default block size is 64MB.

A file is divided into blocks when it's moved into the cluster. A file can be divided into multiple blocks but one block can contain only one file.

InputSplit is how RecordReader presents data to mapper. Mapper gets one input split at a time to put it other way. How it's split depends upon InputFormat. Default InputFormat is FileInputFormat which uses lineFeed for InputSplit i.e. each line is a separate input split.
http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/160/What-is-the-difference-between-file-block-and-inputSplit-in-Hadoop Tue, 30 Apr 2013 13:26:10 GMT http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/160/What-is-the-difference-between-file-block-and-inputSplit-in-Hadoop What is the difference between Hadoop old api and new api
one easy way to differentiate between Hadoop old api and new api is packages. old api packages are identifiable by mapred or to put it precisely subpackages of org.apache.hadoop.mapred package, new api packages are identifiable by mapreduce or to put precisely subpackages of org.apache.hadoop.mapreduce package.

In old api, Mapper and Reducer are interfaces while in new api classes.

http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/159/What-is-the-difference-between-Hadoop-old-api-and-new-api Thu, 25 Apr 2013 19:41:23 GMT http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/159/What-is-the-difference-between-Hadoop-old-api-and-new-api How to delete duplicates in a database table?
delete from Users where (rowid, email_adress) not in (select min(rowid), email_adress from Users group by email_address);
http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/158/How-to-delete-duplicates-in-a-database-table- Wed, 24 Apr 2013 16:45:37 GMT http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/158/How-to-delete-duplicates-in-a-database-table- Which Hadoop version is right for me?
With so many Hadoop versions floating around , it becomes a challenge which one to choose. After checking permissions NameNode creates filesystem metadata for the file. No blocks are created yet.

Response to client tells that request to open file was successful and client can go ahead and start writing data.

Client starts writing data to the steam which is split into packets and queued in memory.

Another thread in client consumes this queue and requests namenode to give set of datanodes to write first block. Client makes connection to the first datanode in the list, this datanode connects to the second datanode and so on and so forth. Data packets are sent to first datanode and using this replication pipeline it sends to the second and third datanode. Each datanode separately acknowledges to the client, once write is complete.

This continues until the block is full and then client makes a second request to namenode to give another set of datanodes.
http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/154/Hadoop-write-path Wed, 10 Apr 2013 18:13:31 GMT http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/154/Hadoop-write-path Distributed Cache
The default size of Distributed Cache for Hadoop is 10 GB but it can be configured using "local.cache.size" in core-site.xml or mapred-site.xml. We are giving UniversalXPConnect privileges to this html file via prefs.js. This code was working absolutely fine upto Firefox 4.0.1, however as I upgraded to Firefox 5 the code stopped working. It is now returning empty feed object in the success call back of jFeed's getFeed method. I am unable to find any changes related to this issue in Firefox 5's change logs and here.

My guess is that Mozilla has removed support for cross domain access from non privileged code in any case i.e. even with any kind of permission given to the local html file, you can not access data from cross domain. If we want to access the cross domain data then, I think, we need to use XUL based components or applications.

Any idea/solution/workaround guys?
http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/19/Cross-Domain-Issues-with-Firefox-5 Fri, 15 Jul 2011 04:52:52 GMT http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/19/Cross-Domain-Issues-with-Firefox-5 Magento Php Software
i am new in magento(cms) ,never worked on any other cms as before,can any one help me in providing basic tutorial of magento so that i can learn it.

Thanks in Advance!!!!.....
http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/18/Magento-Php-Software Fri, 15 Jul 2011 01:27:52 GMT http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/18/Magento-Php-Software SOAP Request namespace problem
Hi,

I am trying to access a web service in another web service(hosted in Axis 2). I am using Spring-WS in Axis2 to access the external web service. The XML bindings are generated via JAXB. Now when I am trying to send a request to the external web service it is forming a request in the following form

<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">

    <soapenv:Body>

        <testExternalService xmlns:ns3="external.webservice.namespace">

            <arg0>some_value</arg0>

            <arg1>some_value</arg1>

            <arg2>some_value</arg2>

            <arg3>some_value</arg3>

            .

            .

            .

            <argn>some_value</argn>

        </testExternalService>

    </soapenv:Body>

</soapenv:Envelope>

For the above request the external service is throwing NPE. However, If modify the request(I used SOAPUI for this) in following way, it works fine.

<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">

    <soapenv:Body>

        <testExternalService xmlns="external.webservice.namespace">

            <arg0 xmlns="">some_value</arg0>

            <arg1 xmlns="">some_value</arg1>

            <arg2 xmlns="">some_value</arg2>

            <arg3 xmlns="">some_value</arg3>

            .

            .

            .

            <argn xmlns="">some_value</argn>

        </testExternalService>

    </soapenv:Body>

</soapenv:Envelope>

Please note in this new form, namespace prefix is removed from the operation(testExternalService) tag and empty namespace declaration is made for all the arguments for that operation.

Now these are my questions:

1. What is the reason for failure of first request and success of second request?

2. Do we have some method in Spring-WS such that the request is formed in this way?

3. So my queston is why it is giving me 200 as a statuscode as output and not 302 ?

I am kind of stuck here and dont know what to do..Any help would be highly appreciated.

http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/15/Status-code-of-the-method Fri, 08 Jul 2011 05:34:50 GMT http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/15/Status-code-of-the-method PHP and MySQL on Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
What is the easiest way to activate PHP and MySQL on Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard)?

I'd prefer to use any bundled versions before resorting to downloading from the PHP or MySQL websites.

I'm comfortable at the command line in Terminal
http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/14/PHP-and-MySQL-on-Mac-OS-10-6-Snow-Leopard- Fri, 08 Jul 2011 04:42:05 GMT http://www.TechTests.com/q1a/Questions/Search/14/PHP-and-MySQL-on-Mac-OS-10-6-Snow-Leopard- Hibernate
SQL queries are not working properly on the hibernate application.
